[LIFES BEGINNINGS]
I WROTE THIS POEM WITH TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY FACE. I LOST A SON IN 2003. WHEN HE WAS A BABY HE WAS VERY FUSSY AND WE WOULD TAKE HIM TO THE BEACH. IT WAS THE ONLY PLACE THAT WOULD CALM HIM SO AFTER WORK WE WOULD HEAD TO THE BEACH. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE DONE WITH ALL MY CHILDREN AS MY PARENTS DID FOR ME. THANK YOU FOR READING . PURPLE WAS HIS FAVORITE COLOR.
THIS IS THE MUSIC FOR THIS PIECE. WE USED TO JAM TO IT AT THE BEACH...

I DONT REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME THAT I SAW THE OCEAN.
THE FIRST TIME THE WAVES WASHED ACROSS MY FEET AND I SANK INTO THE SAND.
A LIFES LESSON IN THE WATERS OF LIFES BEGINNINGS.
A SHARK STRANDED ON THE BEACH AFTER A HURRICANE.
A SEA TURTLE ON MY LINE, HIS PULL SO STRONG THAT A 9 YEAR OLD SCREAMS FOR HELP.
AFRAID OF BECOMING A PART OF THE OCEAN.
HORSESHOE CRABS SLOWLY COMING TO LAND TO MATE AND LAY EGGS IN THE WAKE OF WAVES.
JELLYFISH AND WARNINGS OF EXTREME PAIN FROM SUCH BEAUTY.
WALLS WASHED AWAY THAT WERE SUCH A PART OF MY YOUTH.
HOUSES NOW SIT WHERE I RAN WITH MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY AS THE SUN SET ON THE GULF OF MEXICO.
BOATS IN THE DISTANCE THAT MADE ME THINK OF PIRATES AND ALSO THE SHIPS THAT CARRIED MY ANCESTORS IN THEIR BELLIES.
FROM ONE SHORE TO ANOTHER IN A STRANGE LAND, LIGHTNING ON THE WATER, THUNDER IN THE AIR.
A MOTHER WHO WAILS AS HER SON IS PULLED FROM THE WATER, A 11 YEAR OLD WHO WATCHES AS HE IS DECLARED DEAD.
MY CHILDREN IN THE WATER, SO CALMING TO A 6 MONTH OLD BABY AS I TEACH HIM TO LEARN FROM THE OCEAN.
AND I KNOW THEY WILL NOT REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME THAT THAT THEY SAW THE OCEAN.
