It is now a week later and Red is talking to Velvety and Shalonda about their efforts to keep the people fed. This is an effort so momentous that the whole world will be affected by it.
Its amazing how many disenfrachised people there were in the movement who were not expected to be there. There were white people who had been doctors and lawyers under the old system. There were chinese people and people from mexico.
All of these people were working to make this global change occur.
Shalonda is telling Red about the colonies where the people are staying. How order is being kept. Amazingly there has been little crime and this has made the movement even more successful.
The children are attending schools set up by the council and many of the factories that existed before this began are still operating.
The government which went into hiding when this began are still controlling the remnants of their armies but soldiers are defecting every day and making the ranks stronger. Shalonda finishes and Velvety begins to break down the numbers. There is no currency in this new system people are simply sharing and all they need are the materials to survive so by the numbers means placing people in the right place.
It seems that race has dissappeared as a way of identification as the people have realized that they all need to be one to do this thing.
Velvety wraps up what she is saying and her and Shalonda leave the room where Red sits.
Red closes his eyes and lets the events circle in his mind. He also thinks about the fact that it is more than likely that he will die in this endeavor...that he is now the main target for what remains of every government on earth. He thinks of his children and his grandchildren and that makes him think of all the children on earth who live now and will ever live. It will be so different for them.
He also thinks of how this thing started...at the forces that made it happen this way. Man!
The flow of cocaine and heroin has almost been cut all the way off and most of the people agree that marijuana should never have been illegal.
Drinking is allowed but public displays of drunkeness are not.
Religious services are encouraged and it seems as if there is a whole lot less animosity between the religions now that everyone has to work together.
There is a knock on the door and Red snaps out of his thoughts and speaks.
"Come in!"
The door opens and Rosemarie steps into the room. Red also met her on the internet and he liked the fire in her in some ways she reminded him of Akata Shakur. She leads the womens arm of the movement the female soldiers. In studying history Red has always kept in mind that there will need to be female soldiers and in many aspects the women soldiers are the same as the men and they are trained right beside them but these women also learn things that the men do not. In some ways it seems that they are modern day Amazons.
Rosemarie walks in and walks over to where Red is sitting and he motions her to sit down. She does and and he hands her the blunt that he relights. It went out while he was thinking.
She takes a toke and coughs. "Damn Red this is some good shit!"
He laughs.
"Whats up Rosemarie?" he askes.
She looks at him and says "Red when you gone let us do a mission on our own?"
He looks at her for a second before he speaks.
"Rosemarie, I was just thinking about that last night and I am going to need about 4 of your women to meet me later. Even though many of the soldiers who come from the other side have brought valuable information and weapons we need more. I am going to need them to become my eyes and ears over there for awhile. I want you to come up with a plan for this and to present it to me by 0500 hours. Also I want them to be good with every kind of weapon. We must start to tear the enemy down from within."
Rosemarie looks at him and he can see the pride in her as she stands and says 'I got you Red."
She has opened the door and is about to step out before she turns around and says "Thank you Red"
"Dont thank me woman...thank Allah he is the one who gave you your strength."
Rosemarie looks at him with admiration in her eyes and leaves the room.
