The dreamer had another secret and this secret was his reason for challenging the darkness directly. The dreamer had been through so much in his time among man that he was beginning to hurt.

This hurt was physical as well as mental. So many times had he faced death or injury. So many times had he been hurt on a mental as well as a physical level that his healing powers seemed to be depleting. As he gained new powers it seemed that his old powers were being replaced to a point.

The dream was still as strong as it had been yet the dream was consuming the dreamer from the inside. The people in his life had no idea that the dreamer was in so much pain, he hid it so well. Sometimes people can be so concentrated on the wrong things and the wrong concepts that they fail to see what is going on right under their noses.

As we have said in this tale before the dreamer was well aware of the inability of most people to concentrate on the whole picture, they only saw a corner of the truth. The darkness pushed at the dreamer and used the people around him to try and bring him to his knees, yet the dreamer resisted these attacks.

Some who tried to attack the dreamer tried to use his own ideas against him, his own ideals. Yet when you try to use power without the keys you will fall into the abyss. Power is nothing to play around with if you are weak. The dreamer realized that you could be confused as well as wise, this was one of the curses of the dream. Why would anyone want to be burdened with all this confusion and knowledge. Sometimes the dreamer wished so much that he was like the masses who seemed as if as they walked through the dream asleep.

So blissful an existence for the sleepwalkers. Yet this was not his destiny, he was blessed with the pieces of the key and it was his duty to bring these pieces of the key together. To change the world. And the dreamer fought the pain.

As the dream continued to consume.
